Story Time Recap: Can I Join Your Club?
Today, we read a story about Duck, who wanted to make some new friends. He tried to join the Lion Club, the Snake Club, and even the Elephant Club! At first, the other animals told him "no" because he didn't act just like them. But in the end, Duck started his own club where everyone was welcome!
We also learned two "big" words that help us understand how clubs work.
Application: An application is a special form you fill out or a "test" you take to show you want to join a group or do a job. It’s like saying, "Hi! Here is why I want to be part of your team."
"I filled out an application to join the art club because I love to paint."
"Duck handed his application to the Lion, but the Lion said he had to roar first!"
Denied: When something is denied, it means someone said "no" or you didn't get what you asked for. It sounds a little sad, but in our story, it helped Duck find an even better group of friends!
"My request for an extra cookie was denied because it was almost dinner time."
"The Elephant denied Duck's request to join because Duck couldn't trumpet with his trunk."
The Big Lesson Duck taught us that we shouldn't change ourselves just to fit in. The best clubs are the ones that celebrate us exactly as we are!

Use this application for your own club! Can you fill it out yourself? See you next week!
